Kasumbi na munzhon’olu edi’na mabwambu. Ilanà edi’na nakudipika. Ifuku dimu akenèli kutuma ngunja kulonda awani nkuminkumi hakachi kawu.

Chicken and Millipede were friends. But they were always competing with each other. One day they decided to play football to see who the best player was.

Inkoko ne Ciyongoli fyali fibusa. Nomba lyonse baaleecimfyanya. Ubushiku bumo, baatontonkenye ukuti bateye umupila pakuti bamone uwaishibishe ukuteya.


Ayili ku chibanza nakutuma ngunja. Kasumbi wadi’na nakutuma swayi ila’na munzhon’olu wadi’na nakutumisha swayi kubadika kasumbi.

They went to the football field and started their game. Chicken was fast, but Millipede was faster. Chicken kicked far, but Millipede kicked further. Chicken started to feel grumpy.

Baile ku cibansa ca mupila no kwamba ukuteya. Inkoko yali iyayangukilwa nomba Iciyongoli calyangukishe ukucilapo. Inkoko yapantiile ukutali nomba Iciyongoli capantiile ukutali ukucilapo. Inkoko epakwamba ukumfwa ububi.


Asakwili kutuma ngunja yama penoti. Hatachi munzhon’olu wadin’na mugoolu. Kasumbi wenìzhili hohu Ngunja yimu. Ichi yadinà mpinji ya kasumbi kutuma ngunja.

They decided to play a penalty shoot-out. First Millipede was goal keeper. Chicken scored only one goal. Then it was the chicken’s turn to defend the goal.

Baumfwene ukuti kube ukupantafye iyakwingisha mu cipanda. Iciyongoli ecabalilepo ukwikata mu cipanda. Inkoko yaingishafye kamo. Epakucinjana pakuti Inkoko nayo yaba mukwikata mu cipanda.


MUnzhon’olu watumuni ngunja nakwinìzha. Munzhon’olu wahitishili ngunja nakwinìzha. Munzhon’olu watumini nguja namutu nakwinìzha. Munzhon’olu wenìzhili ngunja zhitanu.

Millipede kicked the ball and scored. Millipede dribbled the ball and scored. Millipede headed the ball and scored. Millipede scored five goals.

Iciyongoli epakupanta no kwingisha. Iciyongoli cabela no kwingisha. Iciyongoli cauma iyakumutwe no kwingisha. Iciyongoli caingisha utukato tusaano.


Kasumbi wahilili mulon’ga wakuhona. Wadin’ga wataminina hakuluza. Munzhon’olu watachikili kuseha mulon’ga chakuhila cha kasumbi.

Chicken was furious that she lost. She was a very bad loser. Millipede started laughing because his friend was making such a fuss.

Inkoko yalifulilwe ukuti yaluusa umupila. Iciyongoli caatampile ukuseka umunankwe pantu aaleilishanya.


Kasumbi wahilili nakwenzununa kanwa kindi nakuminya munzhon’olu.

Chicken was so angry that she opened her beak wide and swallowed the millipede.

Inkoko yalifulilwe saana yasoba iciyongoli no kucilya.


Kasumbi chadin’ga nakwendayi nakufunta kwitala, waweni mama ya munzhon’olu. Mama ya munzhon’olu wehwili nindi, “Wunamoniki mwanami?” Kasumbi hahosheli zhidizhezhimaku.

As Chicken was walking home, she met Mother Millipede. Mother Millipede asked, “Have you seen my child?” Chicken didn’t say anything. Mother Millipede was worried.

Cilya inkoko ileeya ku ŋanda, yakumanya nyina wa ciyongoli. Nyina waciyongoli eipusha ati, “Bushe naumonako umwana wandi?” Inkoko tayayaswike nangu cimo. Nyina wa ciyongoli tepakusakamana.


Mama ya munzhon’olu watiyili ka kambila . “Inkwashi mama! wadilili. Mama ya munzhon’olu watiyilili chachiwahi. Imbila yafuminini mwivumu da kasumbi.

Then Mother Millipede heard a tiny voice. “Help me mom!” cried the voice. Mother Millipede looked around and listened carefully. The voice came from inside the chicken.

Elyo nyina wa ciyongoli aumfwile akalishiwi akanoono. “Mutuule maayo!” Nyina wa ciyongoli aloleeshalolesha no kumfwikisha. Ishiwi lyaleefuma mu mala ya nkoko.


Mama ya munzhon’olu wabidikili, “Zatishaku inòvu zheyi mwanami!” anyizhon’olu akweti ivumba datama nakalulisha. Kasumbi watachikili kutiya kukata.

Mother Millipede shouted, “Use your special power my child!” Millipedes can make a bad smell and a terrible taste. Chicken began to feel ill.

Nyina wa ciyongoli epakupunda ati, “Bomfya amaka yobe mwana wandi!” Iciyongoli limo cilanunka ububi saana, no kumfwika ububi mu kanwa. Inkoko epakwamba ukumfwa ububi.


Kasumbi wagikwili. Kaha waminyini nakwifwizha. Hakukohola na kupemba. Naku kohola. Munzhon’olu watiyili kuhiloka.

Chicken burped. Then she swallowed and spat. Then she sneezed and coughed. And coughed. The millipede was disgusting!

Inkoko yalibyolele. Yamina amate kabili yafwisa. Elyo yatesula no kukoola. Yakoola kabili. Iciyongoli tepabubi.


Kasumbi wakohweli ninochu akwohweliyi munzhon’olu kufuma mwivumu dindi. Mama ya munzhon’olu na mwanindi akandamini kumutondu nakuswama.

Chicken coughed until she coughed out the millipede that was in her stomach. Mother Millipede and her child crawled up a tree to hide.

Inkoko yakoola mpaka yakoola Iciyongoli icali mu mala. Nyina wa ciyongoli no mwana wakwe efyo baninine ku cimuti eko babelama.


Kufuma henahana, Tusumbi na nyinzhon’olu ekala hachambu.

From that time, chickens and millipedes were enemies.

Ukufuma apopene inkoko ne fiyongoli fyalipatana.
