Ngwechi kusonga jitamba

I peel the potatoes.

Mpala Imfyumbu.

Ngwechi kuvatula kabeji

I chop a cabbage.

Mputaula kabeci.

Ngwechi kukwala ma kaloti.

I grate the carrots.

Nseesa kalota.

Ngwechi kukosa makunde.

I wash the beans.

Nsamfya cilemba.

Ngwechi kuvatula chelu

I cut the butternut.

Mputula utupushi.

Ngwechi kuteta mafo.

I chop the spinach.

Mputula shipinaci.

Mama yami echi kuteta sapola.

My mom chops the onions.

Bamaayo baputula onyoni.

Sapola yechi kungulilisa nge vanayivatula.

Onions make me cry when they are chopped.

Onyoni ilalenga ukuti nalila ifilamba nga ileputulwa.
