Nafalanga makwili.

I peel the potatoes.

Mpala Imfyumbu.

Napumanga kabici.

I chop a cabbage.

Mputaula kabeci.

Na pumanga ma kaloti.

I grate the carrots.

Nseesa kalota.

Natapisanga manawa.

I wash the beans.

Nsamfya cilemba.

Na pumanga mbatanati.

I cut the butternut.

Mputula utupushi.

Napumanga sipinaci.

I chop the spinach.

Mputula shipinaci.

Boma bapumanga nyanyisi.

My mom chops the onions.

Bamaayo baputula onyoni.

Nyanyisi yani lilisanga haipumiwa.

Onions make me cry when they are chopped.

Onyoni ilalenga ukuti nalila ifilamba nga ileputulwa.
